Note on scoring: The UCAT is scored 300–900 per cognitive subtest. Your total (out of 2700) is the sum of all four. The SJT is banded separately (1–4) and not included in your total. The national mean in 2025 was approximately 1870/2700.

How the UCAT is scored

Each of the four cognitive subtests (VR, DM, QR, SJT cognitive elements) is scored on a scale of 300 to 900. Your raw score (number correct) is converted to a scaled score using item response theory to ensure fairness across different test sittings.

The Situational Judgement Test is assessed separately and given a band from 1 (highest) to 4 (lowest). Band 4 results in automatic rejection at many medical schools including Bristol, Edinburgh, and Leeds.
